After 10 years of creating newborn photographs for my clients in a studio setting I have transitioned into offering lifestyle newborn sessions only. This is a big adjustment that I am SO EXCITED about & I wanted to tell you all about it and what to expect!
What is a lifestyle session?
A lifestyle newborn session is one that’s candid, laid back and naturally posed, using the home as the background instead of a studio backdrop. They are meant to show an artistically-refined, realistic view of parenthood and the first month of life.
*In my opinion it’s the best way to capture your growing families first few moments and memories together because you’ll end up with an album of beautiful photographs that have the power to bring you right back to this fleeting time in your families life (rather than an album of undoubtedly adorable posed portraits of your newborn).
Lifestyle Session Details:
>Sessions take place in my clients homes using their home as the background (no props, wrapping, or studio backdrops). I typically photograph in the nursery, parent bedroom, living room, and anywhere else they typically snuggle their baby.
>>Sessions usually take 1-2 hours and are scheduled to take place anytime within the first month after birth.
>>>The photographs I create during a lifestyle session are a mix of candid moments and naturally posed family portraits, as well as portraits of your new bundle of joy laying in their crib & snuggled in your arms. There is only one posed portrait created during a lifestyle session: Your choice of either a basket pose or a black and white hands pose. (See examples of everything below.)
Types of Photographs you can expect from a Lifestyle Newborn Session
1. Candid photos in nursery, bedroom, living room ~ baby snuggles, changing & feeding, interacting as a family
2. Individual portraits & details of newborn in nursery, crib, and parents arms
3. Posed family and parent portraits
4. Sibling portraits
5. A choice of one posed newborn portrait: either a basket pose or a black and white hands portrait (as seen below)
