Washington Crossing State Park, NJ
When Derrin asked me to take some photographs documenting her pregnancy I asked if I could plan something for her. I envisioned jeans and a back tee, bare feet, a large open field and a flower crown for added flare – keeping it simple with a natural and timeless feel. I wanted to shoot in an open area with plenty of trees and tall grass. Washington Crossing State Park was the perfect location!
Derrin is outdoorsy and loves a good adventure, so when I asked if she would mind being in a field of tall grass, she didn’t hesitate to jump right in! My kinda girl!
She brought a couple different outfits to use at the session, sticking with the less-is-more theme of a simple & sexy black dress and an awesome shirt she had just received at her baby shower. It reads: Wife. Mom. Boss.
Shameless brag – I didn’t own a flower crown so I made one using silk flowers I had at home. I think it came out pretty darn cute!
We started the session in this grassy area. I saw the sun peeking through the trees and had to use it to our advantage! If you know me, you know I always love photos like these with the soft sunlight shining through.
When we got to the tall grassy field I had picked out for the jeans and black tee look, I shot mostly in film. So you’ll have to wait until I develop those to see them. Here’s a digital photo I took in that location, though.
I love these next three photos so much! Especially the last one – you can totally feel the love in her eyes!
We ended the session with this stunner of a shot. 8 months pregnant, all belly, wearing stilettos and her flower crown! <3
