Fall is my favorite time of year to take family photos (and coincidentally my busiest time for it too!). Why is it my favorite? The warm color palette, the layered outfits, the cooler temps, everywhere you go there’s a beautiful backdrop of changing leaves…. even in your own front yard!
Which is exactly where this family portrait session took place… in their front yard! (and a little bit of their neighbors driveway across the street)
Each year we’ve done family photos at their home and used their wooded front and back yard as our background. I’m slowly finding myself more drawn to always using the home and yard as a backdrop and know I’ll be suggesting it more often in 2020! (Look for a blog post on this topic coming up soon!)
I find myself very fortunate to photograph this family every year. It’s been a joy to watch their children grow and to stay in touch through social media and see each others day to day lives. I consider Jill a friend, so you can imagine my excitement when she told me their family session would be a little extra special this year… You’ll see when you scroll through these photos that their family is continuing to grow! Yay!! Being able to be a part of their announcement to the world about Baby #3 was one of the biggest highlights of 2019 for me.
Jill picked out a lovely palette of winter colors and neutrals for their family photos, complete with winter jackets and hats! They all looked so cute in their family photos! She even found a unique and beautiful magnet letter board from Havens Place Designs for the announcement which was the perfect way to share their big news!
