Hands down, this was the most hip 1st birthday party I’ve ever photographed. It was held at The Clubhouse, an industrial-chic venue in Montclair, NJ, with catering from Events by Joni and an awesome playlist featuring all the #1 top music hits from the date of October 28th throughout the decades. October 28th is Owen’s birthday and I was so happy to celebrate his big day him and his family and friends.
The venue itself was very industrial looking, and was decorated with a Mega Man theme. There were blue and white balloons throughout the room, a blue-themed candy table, Mega Man characters around the room and some really great signage. I loved all of the details they had at the party!
Guests gathered at the start of the party and enjoyed appetizers while waiting for Owen’s big entrance. As soon as he arrived and had his grand entrance with mom, it was all eyes (and cameras) on him! Everyone was so excited to see him and celebrate his big day!
Guests enjoyed listening to the awesome playlist, telling stories, chatting, and playing with Owen!
Events by Joni did an amazing job catering the party. Their spread looked and tasted delicious!
After lunch, they did a Korean birthday tradition in which the birthday boy chooses a tool that symbolizes his future career path. Owen chose the money and everyone was very excited about this!
Later on there was a magic show and a puppet show upstairs by Uncle John’s Puppet Show that had everyone cracking up. The kids LOVED it!
The party ended with dessert, of course! We sang to Owen and he blew out the candles on his Mega Man cake with the help of his loving parents. Cupcakes, cookies and brownies were also served.
As guests said goodbye they were given a Mega Man figurine and a bag of candy! Such a sweet treat to end the day!
