I post about backyard portrait sessions on instagram all the time, because honestly… I love them so much! This portrait session in the backyard at Grandma and Grandpa’s place in Livingston, NJ was no different! What could be better than coming together and taking your portraits in the yard you grew up in, the one you made memories in, the ones your children will now make memories in?
This family was celebrating grandpa’s birthday on a Sunday evening, and while they were all together they thought it would be a great time to have their family portraits professionally taken. Both of their sons, their sons wives, and all five grandchildren came. It was definitely the perfect moment for a photo shoot.
The back porch had a beautiful deck with a large bench on it, and the yard had many beautiful trees that created a shaded environment for the photographs. It was perfect. We broke the family up into small groups and took photographs of the three smaller family units as well as all three families together, in addition to each child individually, each couple individually, and of course the proud grandparents with their grandchildren.

This son and his wonderful wife have a two year old son and twin 6 month old girls. This little guy was such a ham for the camera all afternoon!
This son and his beautiful wife have a son and a daughter, both full of energy and laughs. They loved playing with their younger cousins and making silly faces for my camera.
Then of course we had to split up with a group photo of all the girls, and all the guys. And then the grandparents & grandchildren! <3
